Conference realignment would never had taken place if the BCS had not been created.

With the BCS came bigger television contracts & the creation of conference television networks.

I feel bad for New Mexico St. They're left to drift aimlessly thru the FBS until they can get picked up by a lessor conference :(

Say what you will about "Conference USA"... they have the best name.
No number in the title to worry about, and not narrowed down by a specific region of the country (not that it stops anybody from expanding)

I lose a lot of respect for the ACC. If a school wants to divorce your conference, let them leave.

Maryland has brought a lot to the ACC. Let them leave without forcing them to pay out 52M.

Hold a party. Have cake & send them on their way with a smile :)

You could look at it that way, but, personally, I hope that the ACC gets the whole 50 million from them, ( I know they won't) but, that is the number that was set, and they should pay it.

I'm with bandwagon. The fee was set by a vote of the member schools to preserve the integrity of the league. Granted, Maryland voted against it, but too bad. Rules are rules.

Canada, eh?
Doesn't the Big East require 27 months notice for a school that wants to leave? Haven't seen that enforced.

1) The conference and schools can always negotiate out of it and 2) The Big East has absolutely zero bargaining power. It's a shell of an empty husk of a corpse of a conference.

The Big East (what remains) & the Big XII should just merge

Texas Tech should move to the PAC 12, tho :)

I didn't have an issue with the divisions :jj: but the new one does make sense with the addition of Rutgers & Maryland. It really opens up the West for Nebraska.

That whole franks & beans conferencing was just plane dumb :(

I wasn't a big fan of the names, and wanted a name change. I'm afraid though this is going to hurt Nebraska as it seems we are gonna get stuck in the "weak" half of the
B1G. Michigan, MSU, OSU are all in the East.
