We'll have to check the "Terms the Kids are Currently Using" thread from 2015 to see if it's still in vogue.

But always post em as you read em.

Oh boy, here is the latest marvel in the category of "Televisions nobody ever asked for."

"You can use the Smart Bed's screen at multiple aspect ratios and sizes depending on how much you extend it from the base unit. For example, you can get a quick weather update by extending a small portion of the display or extend it completely when you're watching a movie."

As the unit ages, users may find they can't extend it as much or as often as they'd like.

They probably have a pill for that.

I still have my 50 inch PLASMA Panasonic TV I purchased in March of 2010. Still has a fantastic picture.
Paid a thousands bucks for it.
I have the same TV. I forgot exactly when I got it, so I just reached over the top of it and took this

I got rid of a 275 lb Sony Wega XBR 36" crt HDTV for the plasma. Next stop is a 65" OLED.

I saw a deal at Walmart that I could not turn down. Got an ONN 65” TV at Walmart for $396. Will go into the living room. I am going to put the ole 50 inch plasma in my pole barn garage. I have the Directv wireless Genie and it will be great watching the Reds game out there going from a 32” TV to 50” TV.

TV update! Getting old and decrepit has its upsides. Mrs. Scotch started asking for a TV upgrade/swap for Mothers' Day, as it's been getting more and more difficult to see any details on our TVs. In the living room, the 50" Panasonic plasma just wasn't cutting it anymore. While the picture is still good, the distance to our seating locations was too far. And there seems to be much more need to read texts and social media posts as part of the plotlines these days.

But the biggest benefit was the switcheroo - moving the 50" TV into the bedroom, to replace the sorry-looking 32" TV that's mounted clear across the bedroom. And as I've said before, there was only one candidate for a replacement TV - a 65" OLED, either LG or Sony. The OLED is basically the next step in the evolution of self-lit image technology. First there was the photon, then plasma, now OLED. While the standard LED-backlit-LCD TVs are mostly excellent, there are issues and artifacts, and I'm not dealing with any of that. As I've said, I'm not an early adopter, I'm a late adopter. And that means I can make a purchase after all the kinks have been ironed out.

At my local TV/appliance store, they had the new models in, but they wouldn't put them in the showroom until the outgoing stuff was sold. So I got a 2021 model LG C1 for a great deal.

Here's the new bedroom setup, with the ol' plasma over the "secretary"

and here's the new TV on the corner piece in the living room

Getting the new TV, with its "blade-thin" screen, all setup and mounted on its stand, was a story in itself, that I'll share when I have another minute.

Your bedroom TV is crooked. At least it looks crooked from the photo.
I'm standing to the left of center, it's perspective. If you look carefully, the gap between the TV and the furniture top is consistent. Here is an attempt at a head-on shot

It's still not a true picture. The top looks bigger than the bottom, and I'm a little off of center. Maybe I should knock down the back wall, so I can use a true 1:1 lens, instead of wide-angle. Or you can be a bit less of a Debbie Downer.

So here are some images of the display panel on the TV

I'm not sure why they needed or wanted it to be that thin, but it's a 5 mm sheet of glass. So you can't just take it out of the box and toss it around. The very heavy base has to be assembled and then screwed into the bottom-back of the TV. In order to do that, the TV has to be laying horizontally. I actually watched an unboxing video, which showed how to take the foam packing blocks, and assemble a platform for the display while it's laying down. The entire process was quite harrowing, and it required the coordinated efforts of the Mrs. and I (which is never good). But I'm happy to report that the display made the journey 100% intact.
