With all these other alternatives in organized company-run music services, does anybody just fire up shoutcast.com or their Winamp Radio tabs and listen to some good old fashioned Shoutcast stations anymore?
I've got listener supported, commercial free, adult alternative radio station Radio Paradise bookmarked on my cellphone, my streaming media box, even on my XBOX. I've also been known to listen to many of the streams offered by Digitally Imported (although even they're more of a company now because of all the listeners and DJs that they have), and Soma FM.
I also run one of the last IRC-based (and pretty much dying like the rest of them) radio stations called PARTY FM that allows independent DJs to offer up their own taste in music, style of comedy, and commentary on what's going on in their life & the world.
If you couldn't figure it out from the last paragraph, PARTY FM IS looking for new DJs...practically is begging for them
If you want to do a live talk or music show, we can accomodate. If you want to do a recorded talk or music show (or already have a podcast you'd like to bring to our airwaves), I've learned in my 6 years running the station how to semi- and fully- automate things to make this very easy to do. Plus airing on our station guarantees you:
1. Scheduled replays of your shows for people who might have missed it
2. On Demand feature allowing people to listen any time for the next 7 days after your show airs
3. Automatic promotion to the station's Facebook & Twitter + other affiliated IRC chatrooms so fans always know when all shows are live
4. My undying grattitude
